Dr. Sheetal Dinkar Asha Kamble

Co-Founder and Managing Trustee

Dr. Sheetal Kamble is a distinguished researcher and social practitioner with over two decades of experience in gender justice, institutional reform, and educational policy. She holds a Ph.D. from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, specializing in Women’s Studies, a foundation that has informed her extensive work with state agencies and non-profit organizations.

 

Expertise in Gender Justice & Advocacy

For over ten years, Dr. Sheetal dedicated her practice to addressing domestic and sexual violence. Her work involved the strategic application of counseling skills and legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, rape, sexual harassment in the workplace, and child sexual abuse.

During her tenure at the Mumbai Police Commissionerate’s Special Cell for Women and Children, she spearheaded crisis intervention activities. Utilizing a multi-stakeholder approach, she collaborated with the State Home Ministry, the Women and Child Development Department, the Department of Social Justice, and the Judiciary to strengthen support systems for survivors. A key contributor to institutional capacity building, she authored a comprehensive training manual on violence against women and conducted gender-sensitization programs for police personnel across 22 districts of Maharashtra

Academic Leadership & Policy Research

From 2022 to 2024, Dr. Sheetal served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at TISS, Mumbai. In this role, she focused on critical education policy research, bridging the gap between theoretical frameworks and classroom realities.

Current Vision (2025 – Present)

In 2025, building upon her diverse background in social justice and education, Dr. Sheetal transitioned into her current leadership role as the Managing Trustee of Tashi. Here, she integrates her expertise in intersectional advocacy and foundational literacy to create scalable, community-led models for social development. She remains committed to empowering marginalized voices through rigorous research, teacher training, and the creation of safe, inclusive spaces for women and youth.
