Dr. Sheetal holds a PhD. degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, with a specialization in women’s studies. She has worked with different state-run agencies and non-profit organizations in various roles over the last twelve years. This was followed by ten years of work on the issue of domestic and sexual violence against women and applied the counselling skill and advocacy strategy making for women who have faced Domestic violence, Rape, Sexual Harassment at the workplace, and child sexual abuse.
She was the Place Commissionerate of Mumbai’s office of the Special Cell for Women and Children. She participated in intervention activities in a violent situation and used the multi-stakeholder approach to work with different NGOs, the State Home Ministry, the Women and Child Development Department, the Department of Social Justice, the Judiciary police, and other stakeholders to sensitize them regarding violence and create better support systems. She also prepared a training manual on Violence against women for counselors. She also conducted sensitization training programs for the Police on ‘Gender and Law’ across the twenty-two districts of Maharashtra. In the years 2022 to 2024, she worked as a Research fellow/postdoc fellow Center for Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She worked on education policy. In the year 2025, she was appointed as a member of the Sexual Harassment at Work Workplace Committee at the Central Excise Commissionerate in Mumbai.
